I’d like to mention the Leigh Leopards , been watching Leigh since our old chap first lifted mme over the turnstiles at the old ground at Kirkhall lane , in 1949 when I was 6 , 74 years then in their various guises , Leigh , Leigh Bears , Leigh Centurions , and Leigh Leopards , seen all the good times , Challenge cup final win , 1st division championship win , Lancashire cup wins , floodlit cup wins , and wins in the championship , champions , cup wins in the Northern rail cups in it’s various guises , and seen all the bad times , relegations , been stood outside the old ground with a bucket collecting money in the bad old days , but now the good times are back thank’s to Derek Beaumont , Chris Chester , Adrian Lam , Tony Clubb , and the team itself , no more will other teams look at their next fixture and say “it’s only Leigh we can rest a couple and it’s two easy points , now theyr’e looking and saying “ bloody hell it’s Leyth next we’ll at shape ourselves , approaching no my 80th birthday , thank’s Lads , you are presently creating a lifetime of treasured Rugby league memories for all the young People of Leigh and surrounding areas .

Peawapp..although I support Wigan…Leigh are my next club since they were the first rugby match I went to against Featherstone Rover…they lost 14-28 but I was hooked…it was probably 1962 ish…my mam wouldn’t let me go go to Central Park because of the size of the crowds then…but I loved it..and they had the same shirts as Wigan then….Would Rod Tickle have been playing then?

Roylew
Rod Tickle made his debut for Leigh in 1962 , played for them until 1973 , when he finished his career at Rochdale Hornets , was a decent winger , could catch pigeons , still shows up at Leigh from time to time , not too well now , .

You are correct in your praise of those in charge at Leigh Leopards, especially Coaches Lam and Clubb who have proved that they were better than what some supporters and management considered them to be when at Wigan.

Special praise should be given to your owner Derek Beaumont for having the confidence that they along with Chester would get your club back to former glories by backing them up with decent signings which was not the case with some of the signings Lam had to put up with at Wigan.

May I wish your club every success by not only staying in the Super League and providing some good local derbies, but also getting into the top six playoff.

Watched the game tonight Peawapp. Well played. You totally outplayed HKR. Some good attacking play and resolute defense. Well done to all concerned. Lam has a good team spirit going there and some of those forwards are fricknin.

The atmosphere in the North stand at Leigh is brilliant , it’s always terrific , Mr Beaumont has done an amazing job here , With Adrian Lam , Tony Clubb , and Chris Chester , and an amazing team , if someone had told me pre season that after 17 matches we’d be second in the league and in the semi final of the challenge cup ,I’d have said “ I wish “ but hear it is , we have a concert pre match and half time , and pre match fireworks , but as I am approaching 80 now I find the pre match entertainment a blood racket , even my own Grandsons group “ the lottery winners “ in which he plays lead guitar , and as my mate always says after the last roman candle has landed pre match “ that’s another bloody £2,000 notes deawn’t bloody Swannee , but it’s only money and it’s creating a lifetime of memories for the young uns . Long may it continue .

I hope success breeds success Peawapp…but I’d be a little cautious about all the “extra” spending
